To cope with the growing shortage of traditional matting hardener XX68 (a monosalt of 2-phenyl imidazoline with pyromellitic acid), currently AHA International has rolled out new matting hardener AHA2199 as replacement of XX68 aimed at this market. It is recommended to be used in both pure epoxy and hybrid, especiallyfor hybrid system even including 70/30 type.

AHA2199 has evident technical advantages compared with XX68 and some physical matting agents who were widely used in Chinese Mainland, such as better anti-yellowing and low cost. Moreover, due to no MZ (Zinc 2-mercaptobenzothiazole), metalsalts of stearic acid containing like as Aluminum stearate and Magnesium stearate , in general smoke and smell issue occurred in cure process may be avoided.
